As the year comes to a close, I am reflecting back on what a productive year it has been. Despite the
increasing older adult population and almost flat funding, we accomplished many things. None of
this would have been possible without AAA4’s wonderful staff, supportive Governing Board and
Advisory Council members, and all of our community partners.
This year’s accomplishments include:
- Put together a great fiscal team and restructured the fiscal division.
- Executive Director appeared on Studio Sacramento TV talk show.
- Participated in March for Meals campaign for Meals and Wheels, resulting in Yuba Sutter MOWs
being awarded $2,000. - Participated in the Sacramento Pride Festival.
- Co-sponsored a workshop on the change in Social Security benefits for gay and lesbian married couples.
- Yolo ADRC was identified as an “emerging” ADRC by the state.
- Forums were held in Placer County and Yuba Sutter Counties to begin the creation of ADRCs.
- Received a SCAN Foundation grant to explore expansion of the Nevada Coalition into Yuba and Sutter
Counties and a SCAN Foundation grant to begin development of the ADRC in Placer County. - Mature Edge sponsored a job fair for people 50 and older and had over 100 people in attendance.
- Mature Edge expanded into Yolo County.
- Executive Director was appointed to the state ADRC Advisory Committee by CDA.
- Agency has a new logo and branding.
- A new website was launched.
- The new and improved fiscal accounting system was launched July 1.
- 4 separate surveys have been disseminated to gather information for the needs assessment. The surveys
are targeted for older adults, caregivers, professionals and volunteers in the field of aging, and community
members who care about aging. - 2 successful RFP processes were completed.
- AAA4 and FREED, working jointly as the Nevada ADRC, put on a very successful conference about Long
Term Services and Support. - AAA4 rolled out the “community centered” approach with Regional Services Specialists focusing on specific
geographical areas. - AAA4”s Registered Dietician presented at the National N4A conference in Philadelphia.
- Executive Director of AAA4 and Executive Director of FREED partnered as presenters for a National Webinar
put on by the Disability Rights Education and Defense Fund. It was entitled “Promising Practices”. - Successfully completed the first full year of the following NEW in-house programs – YS MOW, Dine Around
Town (1/2 year as a pilot), Mature Edge, and SNAP-Ed. - Successfully completed the first full year of the following NEW in-house programs: Yuba Sutter Meals on
Wheels, Dine Around Town (1/2 year as a pilot), Mature Edge, and SNAP-Ed. - Continued technological updates and streamlining of RFPs, contracts, website surveys, and forms.
- Rolled out a new client database developed by RTZ, called Get Care.
- Restructured staffing to better meet the needs of the agency, including expanding Program Managers into
Regional Services Specialists and forming a Direct Services department. - We were able to acquire several employees in 2016 who each brought new skill sets to the Agency.
- We had a great review from the CDA onsite visit in February.
